Troy Somers

December 11, 1967 — July 7, 2023

Troy "Jeff" Somers, age 55 of Dennison Ohio, moved on from this earthly plane and passed into eternity on the afternoon of July 7th 2023 after having fought courageously against diabetes, kidney failure, congestive heart failure, and cancer. He was surrounded by friends and family as he made his peaceful ascension.

Born in Port Angeles, Washington on 12/11/1967. Jeff grew up in the small town of Clatskanie Oregon where he also graduated. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S Midway, specializing in diesel mechanics as ENFN (engineman fireman) Somers. He was very proud of his service to his country and honored to be a Navy Veteran.

Jeff later moved to Arizona, where he attended Arizona Automotive institute and met his future wife, whom he married in April of 1994.

Those who knew Jeff expected to see him with greasy hands and busted knuckles, as he loved working on cars. He was everyone's go-to guy for problem solving their auto issues.

In love with the roar and rumble of engines, he spent many Saturdays at Midvale Speedway with his two youngest children at his side. He was also a proud member of Feister Racing #13 pit crew, standing alongside one of his longest and closest friends, Kenny Feister and his son, Kenny Jr.

His family fondly remembers Jeff's workhorse golf cart that he souped up and tricked out to enter into a golf cart drag race with his oldest son. Jeff came barreling to the finish line sparing no speed, rolling the golf cart several times before coming to a stop. He immediately jumped from the wreckage asking if he had won. He had indeed garnered the 1st place position, for which he was extremely proud.

In his sparetime, when he wasn't working on cars, Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, swimming, and boating. He also enjoyed going to the casino with his daughter and his father in law.

Jeff was a gentle giant, often referred to as a teddy bear. He did not know a stranger and made friends with everyone. His heart was pure and filled with love for people, often dropping everything to help someone out. His presence on this earth was a bright spot in many lives and he will be dearly missed.

Jeff was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Stephanie Lynn in 2021.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Stephanie, his children and grandchildren, Diana Somers and Collin Miller (Cai and Cyrus) Domminick Somers (Layla), Monica and Matt Hopper (Sophia and Tony), Aubrey Somers and Kieran Somers, his parents, Father, James Somers and mother, Lynda Rochon as well as siblings, Brent Somers, Greta Somers, Toni Lindsay, Kristy Melville, Shelly Treider, Robert Rochon, Rex Rochon, and Mike Rochon and their respective spouses and children, as well as his Mother and Father In-Law, Gloria and Allen Sloan and numerous extended family and friends and his beloved pet, Diesel.
