Susan I. Holder, 76, passed away on December 13, 2025. She was born at Akron City Hospital on August 29, 1949 to Bruce and Hazel (Emrich) McChesney. Susan was the oldest of 3 daughters to Bruce and Hazel followed by Carol McChesney and Nancy McChesney DeHoff. They grew up in Uniontown, Ohio. Susan spent most of her time at the family farm where she helped in every aspect of farm life. In 1970, she would purchase the farm house to raise her own family.
As a single mother of two - Bruce and Jennifer she also went on to pursue becoming a nurse. These 3 things she would later say were her greatest accomplishments. She graduated from the Akron General School of Nursing in 1982. After graduation she went to work at Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation hospital and worked with head trauma and stroke patients. The work was physically demanding, but she loved her patients. In 1990 she received recognition from the Who's Who in Nursing and pursued a certificate as a Rehabilitation Nurse. She finished out her career with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, a job that she enjoyed greatly.
Susan is survived by her children - Bruce (Kim) Bauldry, Jennifer (Wes) Feesler, her sisters Carol McChesney of Florida, and Nancy (Bob) DeHoff of Delaware, OH. Her niece Brenda DeHoff and family, and nephew Timothy DeHoff. As well as many extended family members.
Susan is preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Holder who passed earlier this year, as well as her parents Bruce and Hazel.
There are no services planned at this time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Akron Area AA Intergroup (www.akronaa.org) in her honor. AA was a large part of her adult life, and helped her find peace in chaos.
