Stephen Rindo

November 24, 1930 — November 20, 2022

Stephen "Steve" Joseph Rindo, 91 formerly of The Danbury of Hudson, 150 Omni Lake Parkway, Hudson Ohio passed away peacefully November 20, 2022 with his son and daughter in law by his side.

Steve was born 11/23/1930 in Superior to Stephen Aloysius and Mary Catherine nee Galik Rindo. He was the oldest of three boys, graduated from Cathedral High School and the now University of Wisconsin - Superior (Wisconsin State Teachers College).

Steve had a love of airplanes all of his life. As a young child, he would make paper model airplanes and his dad would hang them from the ceilings. As he grew older Steve got a job at an early age cleaning the hangers at the Superior Airport in exchange for flying lessons in a Piper Cub Airplane. He even spent nights at the airport with his brother Bob when the airport manager was out of town.

Being the first in his family to go to college, Steve was able to finance it through ROTC. He learned to fly those planes he so loved. Upon college graduation, Steve served as a First Lieutenant in the Air Force. Prepared as a part of the 90th Bomber Squadron, he was overseas flying missions when peace was declared. Thankfully, he never saw direct combat.

Steve was then hired by Capital Airlines and flew commercially out of Detroit. United Airlines purchased Capital, off to Chicago, and Steve retired with United Airlines after 43 years. As a successful Captain on the Boeing 747, flying internationally, it was time for a change. In retirement, he was ready for the next chapter of his life.

As long been planned, Steve and his wife Ann moved to southern Illinois. Together they lived and loved raising Black Angus Cattle on their farm in their Victorian Farm House until Anna's passing after 43 years of marriage. Life was somehow just not the same.

Steve connected with a high school friend, Anna Mae Beck, who was also widowed. They married, resided in Oregon and had 15 happy years together. Anna passed in 2015.

Steve then moved back to the east to be with his son and daughter in law. He lived independently in his own house in until it was time to for him to move in with his son and daughter in law. Not a lot of social life with children still working. Steve moved to assisted living at 89 where his life began once again.

He was predeceased by his first wife Anna Bush of 43 years, his second wife Anna Beck of 15 years, his daughter Cynthia Rindo Choate, his parents, his brother John and wife Marilyn (Koenig), several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Steve will be missed but he leaves behind a legacy that includes his son Richard Bush and daughter in law Barbara (Rhodes) Rindo of Aurora Ohio. His loving brother and his wife Dorothy (Fisher) Rindo of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin .He is survived also by his Aunt Ann (Galik) and Uncle Tom Johanik of Moqua, Wisconsin.

Steve leaves three grandsons, James Stephen Campbell, Ryan Rhodes and his wife Lauren (Englert) Rindo of Hudson Ohio, Riley Robertson and his wife Elizabeth (Miller) Rindo of Columbus Ohio.

Steve also leaves 5 great - grandchildren: Sam, Rylin, Ramsey, Rory, and Charlie whom he adored with his whole heart.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Aurora Ohio, January 14 at 10:30 A.M. Stephen will be buried in a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, Steve always had a love of trees that only grew stronger with age. The family believes Steve would love this. Plant a tree in your favorite place. Think of him and say a prayer.
