Shelli Ann Newman, 40, passed away on November 7, 2025 in Copley, Ohio. Born on May 25, 1985, in Fairfax, Virginia, Shelli was the beloved only child of Deborah Butler Newman and Joseph E. Newman.
Shelli's early years were filled with energy and creativity. From fourth grade through her senior year of high school, she was a dedicated majorette before joining the high school band guard unit her freshman year of high school - an early reflection of her vibrant spirit and love for music. As a hobby, Shelli learned the flag of each country in the world and retained that information her entire life.
A gifted student with a passion for science, math and service, Shelli graduated Cum laude from Virginia Tech in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry. After a break of about seven years, Shelli's academic journey continued at the University of North Carolina - Asheville, where, in 2018, she earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm D) with Distinction. Shelli always loved North Carolina.
Shelli found her professional calling in nuclear pharmacy - a field that combined her scientific acumen with her desire to make a meaningful impact by helping others. She worked for five years at Cardinal Health in Michigan before joining Radioisotope Life Sciences in Ohio in 2024. Her attention to detail made her the perfect person to be the Radiation Safety Officer at both of places of employment. Her dedication to her work was evident by all who knew her; she truly loved what she did and took pride in contributing to advancements in healthcare.
Those who knew Shelli remember her not only for her intelligence but also for her warmth and humor. She had a good soul and was loyal to her friends. Her interests were as unique as she was - she had a deep appreciation for music and a fascination with saltwater aquariums. She maintained two tanks and excelled in knowing how to care for fish and invertebrates. Shelli played the violin for nine years. Shelli had a way of making people feel seen and valued.
Shelli is survived by her loving parents, Debbie and Joe Newman; her aunts Sharon Grazioso, Betcei Butler, Amy Butler, Sharon Koch, Judy Newman, Lorraine Shaw, Cathleen Newman, Sharon Newman; and uncles John Grazioso, David Butler, Douglas Butler, John Shaw, and Bruce Newman.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents KO Butler and Ruth E. Butler; Ernest D. Newman and Virginia Blanche Newman; as well as uncles: Bruce E. Butler and David O. Newman and aunts: Barbara Baker, Jenny Starcher, and Sheena L. Struble.
Our dearest Shelli, we will miss you forever.
