January 13, 1965 — January 24, 2026

Nathaniel David Franks Jr., 61 of Barberton, Ohio, passed away suddenly on January 24, 2026.

Born on January 13, 1965, in Youngstown, Ohio, Nathaniel (Nate) was the beloved son of Danniell Franks and Rev. Nathaniel David Franks Sr. He lived a life full of dedication, laughter, and love. He was known for his kindness, his unwavering ways, unwavering work ethic, and his gift for keeping friends together.

Nathaniel was a devoted worker for Thanos's Family Restaurant. He completed two years at the University of Cincinatti and then enlisted in the United States Army and served for four years. Nate decided to give his life to Christ at an early age. He never gave up the fight, and he never gave up his faith. Nate was a member of Triumph Church and Kingdom of God in Christ.

He found joy in the simple things such as spending time with family and friends, storytelling, joking around, and laughter that filled a room. Nate loved sports, especially those sports he played such as football, basketball, and baseball. He enjoyed watching boxing, UFC, EFC and WWE. He also enjoyed Rapp, R&B Soul, and jazz.

Nathaniel's memory will be cherished by his sister Nadine Peake, daughter Kawnesha (Jordan) Wells, two nephews T.J. and Jordan, four grandchildren, Tynesha, Ezra, Kayleigh, and Juelz Wells.

All of Nate's cousins and family were special and loved by him. Special friends, Thano and Anthie Kapolis, Mike Sullivan, and Ivan Davis. Lifelong friends Derrick Dukes, Jeff Pike, Mike Johnson, and Russell Fennell and a host of additional family and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Nathaniel David Franks Sr.; his mother, Danniell Reed-Franks, his Sister Verdell Gentry (Clarence deceased), and nephew Clarence Gentry Jr.

Nate's body is in the care of Area Cremation Group. Currently, preparations are being made to celebrate Nate's life and will be announced and held soon.

For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is no longer, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by man. 2 Corinthians 5:1
