Marilyn Ann May, 80, of Fairlawn went home to be with the Lord on August 14, 2025. She was born on September 11, 1944, to Alice Mae and Donald G May in Akron. Having been a resident of Akron, she also lived in Kitzengen, Germany and North Canton.
She enjoyed attending her church at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. When she was younger, she loved singing in the choir. She is a graduate of Garfield High School, class of 1962, and was in the marching band with her older brother Don May.
She cherished, supported and cared for her family which was very important to her. Marilyn loved being with family, celebrating and gathering 10 months out of the year. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, her parents celebrated on Christmas Eve at their house hosting dinner, exchanging presents and celebrating Jesus’s Birthday. She loved camping and going to political rallies while there she met George H. Bush twice; the second time he remembered her. She loved Hall of Fame events and would attend football games at Fawcett Stadium. She loved watching sports; the Cleveland Browns and Nascar. Her favorite car was a Volkswagen, she drove it while in Germany.
Marilyn was a loving mom, grandma (baba) and great grandma. Her memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by her loving daughter Diane Provchy of Doylestown, son Rick (Deva) May of Canton, son Matthew May of Kent. Grandchildren, Melissa (Nate) Provchy, Jonathon (Julia) Provchy, Jennifer (Greg) Provchy, Kevin Provchy and Ashley May, eight great grandchildren and one due in September 2025.
A memorial service will be held on August 29, 2025, at 11am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church: 1361 West Market Street Akron, OH 44313 with Rector Mark Pruitt officiating. Reception to follow.
