Mamie F. Irace, age 88, of Richfield, Ohio, formerly of Hudson, Ohio and Angola, New York, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025. She was born on November 1, 1936, in Bronx, NY to the late Joseph and Anna (Catone) Vastano. She preferred to be called May, a nickname given to her by her parents and grandmother. May was a mom, a wife, a business owner, a hard worker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, singing, and fishing with her children and grandchildren. She was a very attentive grandmother and loved to watch their sporting events. She had a gift for sketching and drawing and collected cookbooks and blue and yellow items. Her favorite movie was The Ten Commandments, favorite book was Gone with the Wind, favorite musical was Oklahoma!, her favorite flower was a yellow rose and she loved to watch the birds in her yard. She was kindhearted and caring to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
May was married for over 20 years to John Irace and is survived by her daughters, Diane (James) Parker, Laura Irace-Fulton, Linda Barber; her sons, Johnny Irace, David Irace, and Jim (Dawn) Irace, and grandchildren, Susan (Paul) Eriksen, Michael Parker, Dylan Fulton (deceased), Daniel Fulton (deceased), Maria Barber, Mitchell Barber, Joseph Irace, Anthony Irace, Jenna Irace and Nicholas Irace; her brothers, Vincent, deceased (Carol) Vastano, Joseph (Joyce) Vastano; her sister, Carmela (Thomas) Kiernan; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will have a Mass on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 10:00 am at St Martin of Tours, 1800 Station St, Valley City, OH 44280. Flowers may be sent to the care of Linda Barber, 241Halifax Lane, Medina, OH 44256 for transport to the Mass, donations should be sent to The Alzheimer's Association.
