Lulu Christine Yost

September 13, 1935 — May 24, 2026

Lulu Christine Yost, age 90, with family by her side, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 24, 2026. Christine was born on September 13, 1935, in McComas, West Virginia. After time in West Virginia and Virginia, her family ultimately settled in the Akron area, where she graduated from Garfield High School. She met her husband in high school; they were married on June 13, 1957.

Christine was a secretary for Goodrich in downtown Akron, but eventually left her profession behind to raise a family. Later in life, she went back to school at the University of Akron, where she studied history and Spanish.

Christine lived for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and pets. Her family was a source of great pride. She embraced her roles as protector, provider, and a strong woman who raised four kids. She was a proud wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The many family adventures have provided her family with special memories and lots of laughs.

Chirstine had many hobbies throughout life, including traveling, reading, ball room dancing, gardening, and most importantly, spending time with her family. She also loved to start each day reading and studying her Bible while enjoying a good cup of coffee.

Christine is preceded in death by her parents, Dewitt and Birdie Powers, her husband and the love of her life, Gary Yost, Sr., her dear sister Ruby, and her seven other siblings. She is survived by her children, Lisa (Jeff) Guilmette, Gary (Tona) Yost, Jr., Mark (Kathy) Yost, and Autumn Yost (Gregg Seevers); grandchildren, Matt (Ashley) Guilmette, Adam (Brittney) Guilmette, Cory (Callan) Guilmette, Jordan Yost, Ryan Yost; great-grandchildren, Brynnley, Hayden, Alana, Cecelia, Holden, Lainey, and Nash; and sister-in-law and dear friend, Natalie Swain.

Christine and her family would like to thank the special caregivers at the Gables of Green for their empathy, thoughtfulness and care. The family will honor Christine's wishes with a private celebration of life at a later date.

At Christine's request, in lieu of flowers for the family, donations can be made in her honor to Haven of Rest Ministries, via their website, http://www.havenofrest.org or Samaritan's Purse, http://www.samaritanspurse.org . She was a life-long donor to many charities, but these two charitable missions were especially important to her.
