Joseph Pesciotta, 89, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2026. Joe was born in Jersey City, NJ on August 14, 1936 to Stephen and Esther (née Tregub) Pesciotta. As a first generation American, Joe was proud of his Italian and Jewish (Ukraine) heritage. He had nostalgic memories of his childhood years in North Bergen, NJ. After excelling at Weehawken HS he studied engineering at Rutgers. He left college to begin his career as a respected draftsman designing Rapistan conveyor systems for large retailers. If you purchased an HP printer, or an LL Bean shirt in the 1980s, it likely traveled across his system.
Joe married his first love Trudy Maran, had 3 children, and enjoyed early adulthood acting in local theater and camping on Cape Cod. He loved rock-n-roll and even made it to the legendary Woodstock Music Festival.
Joe's first marriage didn't last and he eventually met the love of his life, Penny Myers. Together they moved to Ohio in 1975. Upon retirement they were either traveling the world or tending to their gardens. Joe loved cooking, especially his home-made gravy and lasagna. He enjoyed family visits, reading the NY Times, doing the crosswords, and watching football or basketball.
Always a hit at parties, Joe was a complex character. At times a gregarious, cheerful, social delight. Other times quite the opposite. But deep down he was gentle and compassionate. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Joe is survived by his 3 children, Gregg (Mary) Pesciotta, Eric (Anne) Pesciotta, and Jill Pesciotta, 4 step children, Cecily Myers (Jon Klund), Deborah (Ronald) Johnson, Kenneth Myers and Alice (Lehel) Batizy, 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Marshall Pesciotta and Sandra Ianiello.
