Gerald C. Longville, 84, passed away on March 12, 2024, surrounded by his entire family. Incidentally, his mother and brother Regis also passed on March 12th. Born in Akron, Ohio, on December 17, 1939, to the late Paul and Elizabeth (Michel) Longville. "Jerry" is a graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School, class of 1958. After retiring, he enjoyed monthly lunches with his Hoban classmates. Jerry loved being with his family, taking trips to the ocean, eating seafood, gardening, and going to and "making deals" in Amish country with his friend, Don Paridon.
Jerry was quite industrious. While in high school, he started selling Christmas trees and corn from the back of his 1946 Chevrolet truck. In his late 20's, he purchased school buses and transported students. On one trip, he took a busload of nuns to the World's Fair. He had a long career in fleet and truck sales. He could sell anything to anyone, and he never knew a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Regis (Helen), Robert (Mary), Leo, and Mary Lou, in-laws Salvator and Norma (Marziale) Palermo, brothers-in-law Paul Palermo and Steve Brown, and sister-in-law Debra Palermo.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Toni J. (Palermo) Longville, daughters Elisa (Dan) Staats, Michele (Marty) Hyatt, Christine (David) Longville, and Toni C. Longville (Scott Lesneski), grandchildren Alex Urquhart, Ian Urquhart (Cassidy Horrigan), Sarah Longville (Khoelle Basnight), and Annalisa Staats; great-granddaughters, Luca Jane and Winter Leona Urquhart. He is also survived by his sister Anne Marie (Don) Brown-Wood and brother Richard (Penny) Longville, sister-in-law Sally Longville, brothers-in-law Sam (Vicki) Palermo, Mike (Sherry) Palermo, and John Palermo, former son-in-law Lionel Urquhart, extended grandchildren, Jill and Rachel Lesneski, and countless nieces and nephews. Also mourning his loss is his constant furry companion, Cinder Ella.
Per Jerry's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life has been planned. Special thanks to the Southern Care Hospice team and Dr. Pollock, for the wonderful care they provided Jerry. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Tom Longville Memorial Fund, 7324 Johnston Drive, Novelty, Ohio 44072.
