George Duane Burton II

George D. Burton II, 44, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, at 11:49 a.m., surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

George, affectionately known as "Boo," was a lifelong resident of Akron and graduated from Garfield High School in 2001, where he ran Track and Field. George loved working on cars and bowling. He was also a hardworking entrepreneur and the owner of Burton Home Health LLC, through which he provided transportation services to individuals traveling to and from their doctor's appointments.

George was a kind, loving and genuine person whose smile, laughter and presence brought joy to those around him. He was more than just a son, father, brother, uncle and friend; he was a cherished part of the lives of those who knew and loved him. George created memories that will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

George was preceded in death by his father, George D. Burton I; grandparents, Willie and June Burton, John Wimley and Willa Mae Tarver; and uncles, Timothy Burton, Kevin Tarver and Allen Wimley.

He is survived by his mother, Pamela A. Wimley; his children, Arien Burton of Akron, Ohio, and Daylin Burton of Arizona; sisters, Tiffany Burton of Akron, Ohio, and Tamika (Eugene) Dean of Louisville, Ky.; uncles, Jonathon Burton of Akron, Ohio, Eugene Tarver Jr. of Akron, Ohio, and Prevton Tarver of Barberton, Ohio; aunts, Denise Pinder of Tallmadge, Ohio, and Sandra Johnson of Pa.; and a host of nephews, cousins, friends and family.

George leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will never fade. Though his family and friends will deeply feel his absence, they will carry his smile, laughter, kindness and the love he gave them in their hearts. His life was a gift, his memory will be treasured, and he will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him.

Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Life for George D. Burton II will be held on October 3, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Elite Banquet Hall, 3427 Manchester Road, Coventry Township, OH 44319.

Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate George's life, share memories and honor the life and legacy of a beloved son, father, brother, uncle and friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that those who wish to honor George consider contributing to his Celebration of Life expenses through the family's GoFundMe.
