Frank Bober

Frank Ernest Bober, 84, of Ravenna passed away peacefully Saturday, June 21, 2025. Frank was born October 3, 1940, to the late Frank and Cecylia (Rokita) Bober. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Cheryle (Tregan), daughters Lori (Donnie) Conrad and Kristen (Michael) Lovejoy, brothers John (Vickie) Bober and Jim (Lynda) Bober, sisters Lucille (Richard) Spicer and Sandy (Walt) Wolfkill, and grandchildren Chalker Conrad, Piper Conrad, Thatcher Conrad, and Jacob Lovejoy.

Frank grew up in North Ridgeville, Ohio and was a 1958 graduate of North Ridgeville High School. He served in the National Guard and attended Kent State University. He joined the State Highway Patrol as a cadet dispatcher in 1960, completing his training in 1962. He was a graduate of the 58th class and assigned to a post in Canfield. He transferred to the Hiram post where he was later awarded Trooper of the Year. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant, serving in Castalia, a second term in Hiram, and finally to Ravenna from which he retired in 1990 after 3 decades of service. He earned a Superintendent's Citation of Merit and a Certificate of Recognition for exemplary service. He continued to serve nearly an additional 2 decades as a bailiff in the Portage and Geauga County Courts.

When he wasn't working in justice, Frank was busy. You could find him coaching softball in both Ravenna City and church leagues. He served in the Ravenna Athletic Boosters. He loved working with Ravenna Lions, serving in both the Ravenna and Mantua chapter with some terms as president. He was also the representative for the Melvin Jones Eye Care Foundation during his time as a Lion. Frank was a Ravenna Kiwanis member. He dabbled raising rabbits. He spent several years serving alongside his wife as superintendents for the Collections and Hobbies area at the Portage County Randolph Fair. Frank loved to be outdoors. He would mow the lawn or help cut hay and finish the day off with a bonfire. He was handy around the house and rarely sat still.

Frank loved the Lord and was a strong man of faith. While he was still able, he attended Rootstown Community Bible Church where he was a founding member. He served many years on the church council and doing maintenance work at the church. He will be sorely missed by many who called him friend.

The family will host a private gathering at a later date to remember Frank.
