Evelyn M. Jones

Evelyn M. Jones born to Augustan Stonumn and Mattie Stonumn on June 30, 1943. Evelyn was a beloved mother, wife and grandmother. She departed from this world on May 14, 2026. She attended Canton City School and graduated from McKinley High School. She worked as a baby sitter during her high school days. She later had a long career at Head Start and touched the lives of many kids.

Evelyn became a beloved mother on October 19,1965 to one son Samuel J. Butler, married to Gaylyn Butler. She became a beloved wife to Roy J. Jones on March 8, 1974 and a wonderful homemaker. Together they raised 5 wonderful kids Roy Jones Jr, Viola Akins, Amos Jones and Sheila Jones.

Evelyn Jones was a beloved sister to Ida Whigham Bazen, Ruth Whigham Bridges, Cynthia Stonumn, Pauletta Stonumn, Mary Etta Stonumn Spaulding, Ray Whigham, Jesse Whigham and Joseph Whigham. Also a beloved grandmother to Sa'vvonn Butler, Tassir Butler, Barrocc Butler, Savannah Modrak, J'Risha Butler , Samone Butler, Samantha Hines, Daquain Butler, Samia Butler and Pairs Bell. Also a beloved great grandmother to Arianna Sullivan, Jaylon Butler ,Kellen Butler, Enzo Butler, Amari Nicole Rice, Cordell Ja'sier Bowling , Javon Demer Calvert, AlexZandrea Sorrells and Jay'Briel Pipkin.

Evelyn loved to take care of her grandchildren, play the piano and sing. She had the voice of an angel. She sang for her church, where she was a proud member. She loved getting her hair done and fashion. She also enjoyed cooking for her family.

Evelyn Jones fought the good fight, she kept her faith through the whole fight. Evelyn cherishes her memory, her husband Roy J. Jones, son Sam Butler and his wife Gaylyn Butler. Also her brother Mike.

Evelyn will be having a ceremony at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery (10175 Rawiga Rd. Seville, OH 44273) at 10:15am on July 10th. Celebration of Life will be July 11th from 2pm to 6pm at 801 18th St NE Canton Ohio 44714.
