Effie Irene Walker

Effie Irene Walker was called home July 25, 2026 a week after her 91st birthday. She is now peacefully restored, and with her savior Jesus Christ.
Anyone who knew Effie, knew of her love for her family, going to thrift stores to find her treasures, spending time in Florida, and staying home to watch Judge Judy. Effie's brother introduced her to her husband Blaine (Bud) Walker, in Blairsville Pennsylvania. They moved to Ohio and were married for 34 years. Despite having a hard childhood, and being raised without a mother, Effie was a fantastic mother herself.
She leaves behind her legacy in their 4 children: Scott (Debbie) Walker, Cathy (Steve) Menicos, Jeff (Linda) Walker, Sally (Doug) Corle, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
She was a testament to finding joy in the simple moments, like a car ride with balogna sandwiches, sitting on her backyard swing, or peer pressuring her family into a cup of coffee no matter what time of day. She believed a happy house was one that was full of her family (& full of thrifted lamps, fake grapes and wicker furniture). She kept her phone calls and her visits short, but you never had to question her love and caring heart. She was a "baby hog," and she would be the first to admit it. Effie did not wish for a formal service, but instead insisted her family get together for Barberton chicken dinners, her favorite way to celebrate her birthdays. She will be dearly missed, and we are all grateful for the memories we have with her. Effie can see clearly now, the rain has gone.
