In Loving Memory of Duane Watson Janowski 11/2/1933 - 1/5/2024

Duane Watson Janowski was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. At age 90, on Friday, January 5th, 2024 as he was exercising at his residence in Akron, OH and made his last ride on his exercise bike here on earth to ride those streets of gold with Jesus.

Duane was born in Elmira, NY on November 2, 1933 and was adopted by the Janowski family of Otto Frederick Janowski and Clara Madeline Hurd. After graduation from Horseheads High School in Horseheads, NY he went on to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Theology at Baptist Bible Seminary of Johnson City, NY.

Duane went into the ministry to work with pastors who needed help with their churches. He served as an Associate Pastor and teacher at some of those churches as well as working one or two full-time jobs. As busy as he was, he always managed to also spend quality time with family and friends. His hobbies included chess, fishing, cook outs, road-trips, preaching, coin collecting, bible study, shopping, email, learning new tech, exercising, vitamin supplements, watching old western shows, hanging out with friends and family, and more.

In 1978 he moved to Monroe, NC with his former wife Betty Janowski (deceased), children Gail, Bill and Daniel. In the 1990's he relocated to Akron, OH where he met the love of his life and married Jaynee Charlotte Skaggs. February 2024 would be Duane and Jaynee's 22nd wedding anniversary.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents Otto Frederick Janowski and Clara Madeline Hurd of Elmira, NY; former wife Betty Jo Briggs Janowski of Monroe, NC; sister Margaret Janowski Wade of Pine Valley NY, son William Edwin Janowski of Lynchburg, VA; and daughter Gail Ellen Janowski of Monroe, NC.

Duane is survived by his wife Jaynee Charlotte Janowski of Akron, OH; son Daniel (Dano) Janowski & wife Tameria of Monroe, NC; daughter-in-law Marsha Stewart Posey & husband Timothy of Madison Heights, VA; grandson Matthew Janowski & his wife Penelope of Monroe, NC; granddaughter Sheena Caudle & her husband Alan of Marshville, NC; grandson-in-law Christopher Vega of Madison Heights, VA; as well as several more grandchildren, great grandchildren, and in-laws.
