Donald J.
Snowberger
Apr 10, 1963 — Aug 18, 2026
Donald J. Snowberger Jr., 63, passed away at his residence in Springfield on August 18, 2026. He was born on April 10, 1963, to Sharon Chidester and Donald J. Snowberger Sr.
Donnie lived in Northeast Ohio for most of his life, but as a young man, he followed his adventurous spirit to Florida, where he became a shrimper. Eventually, he returned home to Ohio, but his love of being on the water-and especially his love of fishing-came home with him.
Donnie loved being outdoors. His favorite things to do always involved being outside. Fishing, hunting, taking a ride through the woods, or simply going for a drive were among the many things you could find him doing on a nice day. He enjoyed hunting for morel mushrooms and spending time outside watching the kids play.
Donnie also loved spending time with his partner, Jami. They enjoyed traveling together, making memories, and simply enjoying each other's company. Some of his happiest moments were spent alongside Jami, whether they were out exploring somewhere new or enjoying the simple things together at home
Donnie was always building something, working on a new project, or coming up with his next idea. He loved making things with his hands and sharing those projects with the people he loved. One of his many adventures was building a water cannon with his son-in-law, Kevin.
Donnie was also the kind of dad who loved teaching his daughters the things he knew. He taught Misty how to do many things throughout her life, sharing his knowledge, skills, and love of figuring things out along the way. Those lessons became more than just things he taught her-they became memories and pieces of him that she will carry with her always.
Above all, Donnie had the biggest heart and would go out of his way to help the people he loved. He always had the best stories to tell and an infectious laugh that could light up the people around him.
Being a dad and grandpa brought him some of his greatest joys. He loved watching his grandchildren play and spending time with them. His youngest granddaughter, Lillian, held a particularly special place in his heart. Whenever Donnie held her, her face would light up with the biggest smile-a beautiful reflection of the bond they shared.
He is survived by his partner, Jami Kapper; his daughters, Misty Hand and Autumn Metzgar (Kevin); and his three grandchildren, Lydia, Logan, and Lillian.
He is survived by his sisters, Donna Kay (Jon), Dena Siciliano (Paul), and Donnita Galland (Russ) as well as Diane Purk (Bill); aunt and uncles, Dale Snowberger and Bertie Naveadomi (Joe), and lots of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Chidester, father and best friend Donald J. Snowberger Sr.
We will be having a celebration of life for Donnie at a later date.
Donnie will be deeply missed by the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
