Denise Kayle Renner, of Akron, Ohio, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on July 27, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on March 6, 1955, in Garfield Heights, Ohio, Denise lived a life full of quiet grace, gentle kindness, and a deep love for nature and those she held close.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Renner; her mother, Ruth Renner; her stepmothers, Elaine Renner and Dorothy Renner; her beloved son, Shawn Grizer; and her sister, Karen Carter. She is survived by her devoted siblings: Karl Renner, Matt (Ramona) Renner, and Steven Renner (Sean Patrick); her loving children: Shane (Cassi) Grizer, Robin Porter, and Joshua (Nikkie) Andrei; and her cherished granddaughters, Maggie, Rhiannon, and Lianna, who were the lights of her life. She also leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends who will deeply miss her gentle spirit.
Denise had a passion for the natural world. She found joy in the simple beauty of a rock she picked up on a trail, the peace of being outdoors, and the comfort of a quiet walk in the park. In fact, she spent much of her time in nature-even in her final moments.
She was a kind and gentle soul who never met a stranger. Her chill, easygoing presence brought calm to any room, and her warmth left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
In keeping with her wishes, Denise has been cremated. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Portage Lakes State Park (5031 Manchester Rd). Family and friends are invited to bring a favorite dish to share and come prepared with stories, memories, and laughter as we honor her life in the way she would have loved-surrounded by nature and the people she cared about.
