David Basil Strittmatter

May 5, 1978 — Jul 21, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of David Basil Strittmatter, who was born on May 5, 1978, in Akron, Ohio, and grew up in Lakemore, Ohio.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, carrying with him the values of dedication, resilience, and service throughout his life. After his military service, he became an entrepreneur, building his career through hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to providing for those he loved.

Above every accomplishment, his greatest pride and deepest joy were his children, Aryana and Aiden. They were the center of his world, and his love for them was immeasurable.

He was the kind of man who never met a stranger. His sparkling blue eyes, warm smile, and unforgettable bear hugs had a way of making everyone feel safe, welcome, and loved. He found joy in life's simple pleasures-a pair of well-worn flip-flops, colorful Hawaiian shirts, and making sure there were always the real maraschino cherries waiting in the refrigerator. His dream was beautifully simple: to one day retire on a beach, becoming the world's happiest beach bum with his feet permanently in the sand.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Wright; his mother, Shirley Strittmatter; and his father, David Wright.

He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory: his father, Tom Strittmatter; his beloved children, Aryana and Aiden; his siblings, Angela, Amanda, Chad, and Jay; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that the love he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the memories he created will remain with us always. His legacy is not measured by the years he lived, but by the lives he touched, the family he adored, and the kindness he gave so freely.

If there is a beach beyond this life, we know he is finally there-wearing his favorite Hawaiian shirt and flip-flops, the sun on his face, his feet in the sand, an old fashioned in his hand and waiting to greet us someday with one of those unforgettable hugs.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Cremation has already taken place, there will be a celebration of life August 15, 2026 at Springfield Party Center from 3-6 at 2491 Canfield Rd, Akron, OH 44312 where family and friends can share their loving memories of David.
