David Lee Ruman, 76, of Akron, died unexpectedly Monday, July 21, 2025.
David was born July 7,1949 in Massillon, OH, to Steve and Nellie (Chovan) Ruman and spent his life in the Akron area, graduating from Ellet High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1972 and was stationed in Thailand. After returning home, he partnered with his father in several businesses followed by a long career as the Parts Manager for Cenweld Corp. in Cuyahoga Falls/Stow for 37 years. He loved his work and colleagues and was still employed at the time of his passing. A dedicated Cleveland sports fan and analyst, David had a particular passion for football and baseball, and loved watching and playing golf. One of his greatest joys was dog sitting and taking care of beloved dachshunds Malley and Tootsie. David deeply appreciated the ministry of Rev. Bill Davis at Overshadowed Ministries, as well as the new friends and wonderful community at Francesca Residence, both in Akron.
He is survived by his brother Robert S. (Barbara) Ruman of Munroe Falls, OH; sister Linda Kelly of Canton, OH; nieces Nicole (David) Ruman Skinner; Amy Ruman; nephew Charles (Katie) Kelly; and grand-niece and nephew Katherine and Robert Skinner. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and they are thankful for all the joy and laughter he brought to their lives.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 4 at 6:00pm and memorial service at 7:00pm at Francesca Residence, 39 North Portage Path, Akron, OH. Private interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Massillon.
