Darlene Frances Petty

Darlene Frances Petty, 61, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, after an 8 year battle with breast cancer. She fought courageously, always keeping a smile on her face.

Darlene was born in Ravenna to the late Jeannie (Hicks) and Everett Petty. She was a lifelong resident of Ravenna and a 1987 graduate of Ravenna High School. Despite all the challenges she faced throughout her life, she met them with determination and gusto. The word "can't" wasn't in her vocabulary. Darlene never slowed down or gave up. She was an inspiration and was loved by everyone who knew her.

Darlene was employed by Parker Hannifin for 15 years, then at Portage Industries. She made lifelong friends and worked until cancer made that impossible. She was a member of the Ravenna and Crestwood Lion's Clubs and served as President for several years.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard Petty. Survivors include her sister, Sue Petty Bressler, brother-in-law Steve, nephews Aaron Williams and Timothy Petty, niece Jessica Petty, great niece Laila Petty, several cousins and special friend and partner Rick Fredrick.

Cremation has taken place, per Darlene's wishes, and a Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, June 7th at 1:00pm at Blackhorse Baptist Church in Ravenna. Memorials may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Hattie Larlham Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Special thanks to Crossroads Hospice for the caring they provided in her last days.
