It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dale Erwin Gordon, who left this world peacefully on September 16, 2026, in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Born on December 14, 1958, Dale was a cherished son of the late William I. and Rhea J. Gordon. He was a beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose laughter and joy touched all who knew him.
Dale was a proud 1977 alumnus of Central Hower High School. He spent many dedicated years working for Jaite Packaging and then Labeltek, where his strong work ethic and camaraderie with colleagues were admired and respected.
In July of 1998, Dale married the love of his life, Melanie D. (Paul) Gordon, in Clinton, Ohio. Together, they spent 28 wonderful years nurturing a beautiful blended family. Dale's legacy is carried on by his wife Melanie; his son Andrew (Amanda) and stepdaughter Rachel (Andrew); his nine treasured grandchildren: Abigail, Louis, and Everett Gordon, Lucy and Baby Paul, and Kayle, Kaycie, Ben, and Billie Gordon; and his siblings, Dennis and William "Al" Gordon (Mindy).
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Vicki Lynn (Gordon) Willis, his brothers Douglas, Donald, and Daryl, and his son Douglas Oliver, along with many other family members. Though their absence is deeply felt, the memories of their shared lives remain a source of comfort and joy.
A man of many talents, Dale was highly regarded in his community. He served as a youth coach for the Ellet Baseball and Softball Association, the Cuyahoga Falls Baseball Association, and the East Orientals youth football team. His commitment to young athletes along with his passion for Ohio State football and various Cleveland teams was a testament to his love for sports.
Dale was known for his quick wit, humor, and generous spirit. For years, he dressed as Santa at his Uncle Dave and Aunt Cathy's Christmas display in the Ellet area, spreading joy and laughter during the holiday season. He was always ready with a joke and a helping hand in any situation.
The Gordon family extends their deepest gratitude to the caretakers who provided comfort and support during Dale's final days. Your kindness and compassion will forever be remembered.
Dale's vibrant presence will be sorely missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he so generously gave to others.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Stewarts Caring Place in Akron, Ohio or St Jude Children's.
